US solar company CS Energy said it has developed and started work on an eight-project, 216 MW direct current (DC) solar portfolio in upstate New York.

The portfolio consists of the following geographically diverse projects: -

  • Darby Solar – 27 MWdc – Capital Region – Easton, NY.
  • Branscomb Solar – 27 MWdc – Capital Region – Easton, NY.
  • Stillwater Solar* – 27 MWdc – Capital Region – Stillwater, NY.
  • Grissom Solar – 27 MWdc – Mohawk Valley – Mohawk, NY.
  • Regan Solar – 27 MWdc – Mohawk Valley – Mohawk, NY.
  • Pattersonville Solar – 27 MWdc – Mohawk Valley – Pattersonville, NY.
  • Janis Solar – 27 MWdc – Southern Tier – Willet, NY.
  • Puckett Solar – 27 MWdc – Southern Tier – Greene, NY

CS Energy is delivering the solar arrays in collaboration with the Goldman Sachs Renewable Power Group and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

Each of these projects is expected to come online by the end of 2021, becoming the first operational utility-scale solar projects in upstate New York. The construction of these projects is expected to generate 500 jobs, and the USD 160 million investment is expected to generate more than USD 80 million in benefits for local communities.

CS Energy partnered up with GSRP in order to finance and to provide asset management required to build, own and operate the projects. New York intends to meet 70% of its electricity consumption with renewable energy generation by 2030.

The projects secured contracts from NYSERDA under its renewable energy standard request for proposals in 2017 and 2018.

Eric Millard, CCO of CS Energy, said, “CS Energy is proud to continue to support New York as it achieves its ambitious clean energy goals.”
