Ovingham Level Crossing Removal Project in South Australia Is Open to Public

Published on 16th February 2023

The Ovingham Level Crossing Removal project in South Australia is now open for public use. The projects will enable the public and motorists to access the Torrens Road bridge and upgraded Churchill/Torrens Roads intersection.

Built at a cost of USD 231 million, the bridge is set to witness over 21,000 vehicles daily. In addition to the upgraded intersection and overpass above the Adelaide Metro Gawler rail line and Australian Rail Track Corporation freight line, the undertaking encompasses other improvements, such as a new community plaza, bike lanes, artwork, and extensive landscaping. The project was financially supported equally by the federal government of Australia and the provincial government of South Australia.

The bridge project was jointly developed by McConnell Dowell Constructors, Mott MacDonald Australia, and Arup in collaboration with the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
